Benjamin Libon

Hey y'all, my name is Ben Libon! I am a current Ph.D. student in Mass Communication at the University of Georgia, focusing on advertising. My research dives into some pretty exciting areas like health communication, political communication, and how social media impacts the world of advertising. I love exploring how people interact with media and how those interactions shape perceptions and decisions.

Before starting my Ph.D., I earned my M.S. in Communication and Information at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. My master’s thesis looked at how utilitarian product reviews can influence brand perception (yes, even toilet paper can teach us a lot about branding!). Before that, I graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in Advertising Management.

Outside of research, I teach and assist with undergraduate advertising classes, which is one of my favorite things to do as a Ph.D student. I also bring a mix of practical experience from roles in marketing, digital strategy, and communications—I’ve been lucky to work with organizations across different industries and across the world to help tell their stories effectively.

When I’m not working, I love being a homebody and spending time with my family and all of our pets. I also actively volunteer for the Zeta Psi fraternity, an organization I joined as an undergraduate student, and that has provided me with so many opportunities and friends throughout the last 8 years.
